Feeding trolls

Every time ... and I mean every single bloody time ... without fail ... that I feed the trolls ... I regret it. And I regret it more than just in passing; I regret it more than I regret things that ought to matter more, things that deserve a bigger regret.

Let me repeat: Whenever I feed the trolls, all it does is nourish them for another day or another week or another month. And this means that they can carry on with their troll jobs and troll networks and troll media. But, if no one feeds the trolls, soon they will die ... of starvation. And that, while I'm not a fan of starvation, I'm still thinking that is a good thing. Okay, so perhaps we ought not to let them die; how about we keep them alive but in a condition so weak they can't get out of bed...

However, I know people sometimes have a sweet spot for the little darlings, and I can't fault them for tossing the trolls a nugget or two.

In the end, you're the one that has to wake up in the morning and see yourself in the mirror; this is one of those cases where there's no perfect solution, so you just have to go with what your gut tells you to do after weighing all the evidence and argument.

And, yes, I'm feeding the trolls.

Article text:

Police are looking for help finding a man they say tried to abduct a
4-year-old boy from his mother’s side in a Walmart.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. Wednesday in the store at 1094
Frederick Blvd., police said in a news release. While the mother was
speaking to someone in the store, a man approached and spoke briefly
to the boy, “then attempted to lead the child away from his mother,”
police said.

The mother caught up to her son and the man, and the man left the store.

The man was described as black, 45 to 55 years old, about 6 feet tall,
and weighing 160 to 175 pounds. He was wearing blue pants, a black
T-shirt with a large face on it, a knee-length tan coat, a
blaze-orange scarf, black sunglasses and a red beret, and carrying a
broken umbrella.

Police asked anyone with information about this incident or the man to
call the anonymous-tip Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (1-888-562-5887).
